But what is the difference between latte macchiato cappuccino ? Many think they are the same but in reality it is not so, even if the basic ingredients are the same.
To add to this distinction there is also the latte, another similar drink but prepared in a different way.
After all, the substantial differences between cappuccino, latte macchiato and latte coffee are precisely in the preparation methodology. Let’s find out more.
Latte macchiato
Latte macchiato is often confused with cappuccino, also due to some bars, especially in the North, which use to prepare cappuccino as a latte macchiato.
There are two types of latte macchiato, the one with milk cream and coffee and the one with milk cream, milk and coffee . The former has a higher percentage of coffee, while the latter contains no more than 20 cl of coffee.
For the preparation, the milk must be heated and then whipped, in order to form a very soft foam, similar to a milk cream.
The glass is then filled and, if desired, added a little more milk and a few drops of coffee, which only serve to decorate the drink.
Alternatively, you can also prepare a tasty latte macchiato with your Nespresso coffee machine and the DolceVita “Macchiato” compatible capsules .
Cappuccino
Cappuccino is one of the most popular drinks and can also be prepared at home. It is made up of 25 ml of coffee and 125 ml of steamed frothed milk , served in a low and wide cup.
The milk must not have a temperature lower than 55 degrees, it can, however, be higher to obtain an even hotter drink.
If, on the other hand, you want to prepare a perfect cappuccino even at home quickly and easily, thanks to the DolceVita compatible cappuccino capsules directly with the coffee machine
Different types of cappuccino are available : the cappuccino with skimmed milk, the decaffeinated, the dark cappuccino, the light cappuccino and the cappuccino with cold milk and hot coffee.
Furthermore, you can prepare a cappuccino directly with your coffee machine, for example with the DolceVita cappuccino capsules compatible with the Dolce Gusto system .
Based on personal tastes, it can be enriched with cocoa powder, cinnamon or brown sugar.
Caffe latte
Caffe latte is often confused with latte macchiato, many believe it’s the same thing. In France , it is called “caffè au lait” and is considered like a cappuccino, but without the foam.
In Spain it is called “caffè con leche” and, like the French, they interpret it as a cappuccino with ¼ milk and 1/5 espresso. It is served in a bigger cup.
Substantially, however, the cup is in most cases the same as that of the cappuccino, even if there are those who prefer a tall, narrow glass.
