DOLCE GUSTO AND NESPRESSO CAPSULES: WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES?

Let’s start by saying that both dispensing systems are a Nestlé invention but it is quite evident right away that the design principles respond to different needs. By simply looking at the size and shape of the respective capsules, it is immediately clear that the volume guaranteed by the Dolce Gusto system allows you to insert more product inside to the full advantage of hot drinks other than coffee and herbal teas (which however are not offered by the manufacturer but which are generally found in compatible capsules ).
The same names then immediately indicate the main intended uses.
Nespresso is a capsule designed essentially for dispensing coffee (the manufacturer does not provide capsules filled with soluble products such as tea, chocolate or other which are easily found as compatible).
Dolce Gusto , on the other hand, presents a varied choice of delicious drinks and in some cases involves the use of 2 capsules for some drinks while the availability of coffee is quite rich but still limited to indicate how these machines are designed above all to dispense hot chocolate, cappuccino, tea and more.
Nespresso capsules
The Nespresso system has an infusion system designed almost exclusively to dispense coffee and manages to extract from a capsule of only 5g. a quality espresso (perhaps a little distant from the habits of Italians) with a compact and persistent cream.
Nescafé Dolce Gusto capsules
The Dolce Gusto system is designed, on the other hand, to make the most of powders soluble in hot water through a system of hot water injection at high pressure inside the capsule which creates an emulsifying effect with a result in the cup which in some cases is comparable to that of professional products. On the other hand, coffee brewing, at least in our opinion, is penalized by the excessive pressure of the water which generates a rather artificial creaminess.
What are the best capsules?
As for the Lavazza – Nespresso comparison , in this case as well it is not possible to give an absolute judgment especially since, as explained previously, the systems are created with substantially different purposes . However, wanting to give an indication, the Nespresso system will be more suitable for those who prefer coffee (even if using the compatible capsules it is possible to dispense hot drinks in a small cup) while Dolce Gusto is certainly to be preferred if the use of the machine will be more oriented towards ‘ dispensing hot drinks in general and herbal teas (the choice, especially as regards compatible capsules, is truly endless).
